Armenian Premier in Lebanon agreed to give a "restart" to economic  relations

ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia  Karen Karapetyan met on March 13 with the Lebanese business community  on the second day of his visit to Lebanon. As the press service of  the Armenian government reports, the head of the Armenian Cabinet  presented the main macroeconomic indicators and positive trends in  the Armenian economy.

According to the prime minister, one of the competitive advantages of  Armenia is the presence of a strong Diaspora - a community of those  fellow citizens who irrespective of their place of residence are ill  for the future of their historical homeland. At the same time, as the  head of government pointed out, economic growth recorded for 2017,  membership in the EEMP, as well as the existence of preferential  trade regimes with the EU in the framework of GSP +, the GSP regime  with Japan, Canada, Norway, Switzerland and the United States allows  us to talk on the investment attractiveness of the republic. All  this, as Karen Karapetyan noted, indicates that it is possible to  establish business in Armenia and provide access to larger markets  with more than 1 billion people.

During the meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce  and Industry, the Chamber of Industry, the Merchants Society, the  World Society of Entrepreneurs of Lebanon and the International  Chamber of Commerce, Karen Karapetyan made an appeal to visit Armenia  and establish business in Armenia. According to him, despite the high  level of bilateral relations, the available economic potential is not  being used in full force. "We agreed in a sense to give a" restart  "to these relations," he said, stressing that for this purpose it is  planned to intensify the work of the intergovernmental commission.

According to the RA Prime Minister, Lebanese business can be  interested in cooperation in the fields of agriculture, light  jewelry, mining and IT. At the same time, he informed representatives  of the business community of Lebanon that work on the development of  a law on the protection of foreign direct investments, which is  designed to unify the legislative field, will soon be completed.

The Armenian Prime Minister also noted the steps aimed at improving  the RA's position in the World Bank's Doing Business ranking on the  conditions for doing business in the countries of the world.
