ArmInfo. In Silicon Valley (USA), the newly elected President of Armenia Armen Sargsyan met with more than 100 entrepreneurs and specialists in the field of IT and high technologies.
According to the office of the newly elected president, during the meeting the participants discussed the development tendencies and challenges that are facing the sphere today. Presenting Armenia's achievements in the sphere of high technologies, A. Sargsyan noted that the sphere is developing and changing quite dynamically. "We should be more competitive and constantly strive for improvement," the RA President stressed. According to him, Armenia has enormous potential, the disclosure of which will be a good help to the country's economic development, expansion of international cooperation and attraction of investments. With the young programmers of Silicon Valley, the president also talked about the prospects for the country's development, shared his vision on the future of the country. In addition, A. Sargsyan visited the company Synopsis, got acquainted with the history of the company and its successes.
According to the RA National Statistical Service, the IT sector went up 13.6% in Armenia following the results of 2017 - the first growth, providing annual revenue to 269.1 billion drams ($ 557.5 million). According to the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia, 80.1% of the total volume of the IT sector's revenue falls on the services provided, with an annual growth of 6.5% to 215.5 billion drams.
