ArmInfo. The Armenian  winemaking companies were awarded medals of the annual international  exhibition ProWein 2018, held in the German city of Dusseldorf. The  press service of the RA Ministry of Agriculture reports.

According to the source, 16 wineries of Armenia presented their  products - wines and spirits - at the exhibition as a single  pavilion. Their participation in the event became possible thanks to  the assistance of the Foundation for the Development of Viticulture  and Wine-making. The companies presented more than 130 types of quiet  and sparkling wines. Within the framework of the event, winemaker  Willie Opitz presented a presentation of Armenian wines for  international media, specialists and sales representatives.   According to the preliminary analysis, the participants of the  exhibition held more than 500 meetings with potential buyers, the  result of which was the achievement of 200 preliminary agreements.

6,600 companies attended the exhibition, and the number of visitors  was about 60 thousand.

In comparison with other international exhibitions, such as Italian  Vinitaly or French Vinexpo, where the accent is on representation of  the country-organizer, Prowein is more universal. Here the  wine-producing countries are represented in almost equal shares. As  part of the exhibition ProWein 2018, reports were read on culinary  news, various seminars, presentations and other events totaling more  than 250 were held.  Vodka, cognac, gin, whiskey, rum, brandy,  liqueurs, liqueurs, grape wines, fortified wines (port wine, sherry,  Madera), vermouth, dessert, dry and sparkling wines.
