ArmInfo. The US is restarting the regime of the Generalized System of Preferences for Armenia - GSP in foreign trade. The day before, US President Donald Trump signed a decree on the extension from April 22 this year of this regime for a number of countries.
It is reported that economic entities that exported goods to the United States for the period from January 1 to April 22 will be reimbursed the paid import customs duties that are not payable under the GSP, the relevant companies that are importers from the United States. Applications are accepted until October 19.
The operation of the GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) was suspended automatically for all countries since January 1 2018. In an interview to ArmInfo, Hovhannes Azizyan, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Investments, told that the export of products from the RA to the United States mainly benefited from preferences within the GSP - about 97-98%. As a result, in 2017, Armenian exports to the US recorded a 70% increase and amounted to $ 68 million with a total foreign trade turnover exceeding $ 200 million. Thus, those goods that could use this regime were actually used by him for 100%.
