The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-February  2018 increased by 28.8% per annum with the decline in passenger  traffic by 2%

ArmInfo. The volume of cargo  transportation in Armenia in January-February 2018 increased by 28.8%  to 4,830 thousand tons against the same period of the previous year,  against the growth of 95.7% a year earlier. Out of them 4 038.4  thousand tons (83.6% of the total volume) accounted for road  transport, which is 38.1% more than the figure of a year ago. This is  stated in the report of the National Statistical Service of Armenia.

According to the statistical data, rail freight traffic for the  reporting period increased by 9.7% - to 417.2 thousand tons. Air  transportation, on the contrary, decreased by 20% - up to 2 thousand  tons. 372.4 thousand tons of natural gas were supplied via the main  pipeline, which is 16.2% less than the figure of a year ago. Freight  turnover decreased by 9.4% - to 802.8 million tons-km.

Passenger traffic for the reporting period decreased by 2% - to  29,509.8 thousand people, against the decline of 6.4% a year earlier.  Moreover, road transport decreased by 4.5% - up to 25 822.2 thousand  people. At the same time, rail transportation increased by 7.2% to  47.7 thousand people, air transportation by 9.3% to 338.4 thousand  people, transportation of passengers by electric transport by 21% to  3,300.9 thousand people. Passenger traffic declined by 1.5% to 373.7  million passengers-km.
