ArmInfo. In the short term, the new government needs to make legislative changes to create an environment in which fair elections can be hold. The chairman of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia Gagik Makaryan expressed opinion at a press conference on May 11.
He noted that public expectations related to the appointment of Nikol Pashinyan to the post of head of the republic are quite high. "He came to power honestly. And that this wave of national confidence constantly supported him, Pashinyan must ensure effective results," said Makaryan. In this regard, the expert noted that the Republican Union has presented the Prime Minister a program aimed at resolving the main economic problems in Armenia, specifically reducing poverty, unemployment, migration, etc. The program, he said, contains 10 pages, where proposals for rural economy, machine building, military- industrial complex, construction, etc.
"Everyone knows that over 40% of the land in Armenia is unfit for agriculture. We offer the government free of charge to foreign or local investors, within the framework of a business plan approved by the government, to lease these lands for a long-term period in order to restore them and use them for agricultural purposes," the economist explained. In those cases when expenditures do not justify agricultural activities, according to Makaryan's proposal, these lands can be used for the construction of solar energy stations, thereby providing additional resources for farms and processing enterprises.
