ArmInfo.The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-April 2018 increased by 19.3% to 9 830.6 thousand tons by the same period of last year. Of these, 8,302.7 thousand tons (84.4% of the total) accounted for road transport, with an annual growth of 24.7%. This is evidenced by the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
According to statistical data, rail freight traffic for the reporting period increased by 5.4% - up to 919.4 thousand tons. While air transportation decreased - by 26.8% - to 5.2 thousand tons 603.3 thousand tons of natural gas were delivered via the main pipeline, which is 14.4% less than the same period of the previous year. The freight turnover decreased by 7.2% to 1,430.8 million tons-km.
Passenger transportation for the reporting period decreased by 6.5% - to 60,136.5 thousand people, against the decline of 5.2% a year earlier. With a 9.3% decrease in road transport, up to 51,852.7 thousand people, rail transportation increased by 6.7% to 100.7 thousand people, passenger air transportation by 10.4% to 737.9 thousand people, transportation of passengers by electric transport - by 16.5% to 7,445.2 thousand people. Passenger turnover decreased by 5.6% - to 774.7 million passengers-km.
