Prime Minister: Process of licensing for development of deposits  suspended in Armenia

ArmInfo. The process of issuing new licenses for development of birthplaces has been  suspended in Armenia. On June 7, presenting the program of activity of the new government in the country's parliament, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated.

According to him, it is necessary to conduct a full-fledged study of  the problem in order to identify possible environmental and  corruption risks. It is important, the Prime Minister continued, to  receive full information about the processes taking place in the  mining industry, as it is about national wealth and strategic  interests of the state. The Prime Minister of Armenia reminded that  he commissioned to create a working group to study the situation on  metal operated mines and deposits. The work of the group, which will  involve specialists, environmentalists, representatives public and  government, as well as journalists, will be transparent. "Ultimately,  decisions will be taken that will correspond to the national  interests of the country," the Armenian government head emphasized.

Earlier the Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources  of the Republic of Armenia Artur Grigoryan informed the journalists  that the work on the implementation of the Prime Minister's order  will begin in the shortest possible time. According to him, the  department has already received the order of the Prime Minister, work  on its implementation has begun. "All research data will be published  in a short time," the minister stressed.

To recall, the RA Prime Minister instructed the authorities to begin  inspections on the exploited mines and mineral deposits in Armenia.  He noted that recently there have been a lot of signals about the  compliance of these mines with the legislation and environmental  standards of the country. "We will be consistent in this matter,  recently, both in the whole world and in Armenia environmental  problems are actively discussed, and a balanced approach is needed in  this issue, as well as in a number of others," the prime minister  stressed, stressing that only with this approach will not manage to  bring the matter to negative consequences, including those related to  investments.
