Armenian government will pay more attention to small farms

ArmInfo. In the loan portfolio of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), along with sovereign loans, there is a trend of increasing and financing the private sector of  Armenia. The director of the Armenian representation of the ADB Shane  Rosenthal stated during the meeting with the Minister of Agriculture  of the Republic of Armenia Artur Khachatryan.

According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Agriculture,  during the meeting Artur Khachatryan expressed satisfaction with the  growing interest of ADB in the sphere of agriculture and processing.  Shane Rosenthal presented to the Armenian Minister a number of  programs financed by the Bank.

Presenting the current priorities of the country's Agriculture  Ministry and implemented new programs with the assistance of the  state, Artur Khachatryan stressed that the small government farms  that make up the majority of peasant farms will become the focus of  the government's attention. "The policy of the Ministry of  Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia for the coming years will be  aimed at rendering assistance to small farms," the minister said,  stressing the importance of their unification and promotion of the  idea of cooperation.

The interlocutors also discussed programs for the introduction of  modern irrigation systems and anti-hail systems, the formation of the  whole chain of agricultural products and access to markets, insurance  of agricultural products, accounting livestock.
