ArmInfo. The Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies of Armenia Ashot Hakobyan received the delegation of the Russian Embassy in Armenia headed by Ambassador Sergei Kopyrkin. The parties discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
In particular, according to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Transport, according to Hakobyan, a good example of cooperation can be multimode and ferry transportations organized by SCR since last year. Thanks to this, as the minister pointed out, the volumes of cargo transportation have grown substantially.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the study of outer space and the use of outer space for peaceful purposes, as well as cooperation of countries in the sphere of high technologies.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Russia in 2017 increased by 26.1% to $ 1.7 billion. In particular, export growth was fixed at 44.6% to $ 541.6 million, with imports growing by 19.1% to $ 1.2 million.
As for joint programs in the field of space exploration, in October 2017, ArmInfo informed that Armenia, with the assistance of the State Corporation for Space Activity Roscosmos, intends to actively participate in the implementation of various space programs.
This should be largely helped by the long-term (until 2020) program of cooperation with Roskosmos, which provides for the launch of a communications satellite, the modernization of the Burokan Astrophysical Observatory, the deployment of GLONASS stations in the country and preparations for the launch of the first Armenian astronaut.
