Armen Sarkissian: Armenia can become a door to a huge Eurasian space,  where more than 170 million people live

ArmInfo. Armenia can become  bridge, or even maybe, a door into a huge Eurasian area, where more  than 170 million people live, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian  stated in an interview with RIA Novosti, answering the question  whether it was possible to reach any agreements on attracting  investments to the country.

Sarkissian recalled that the role of the president in the  parliamentary republic does not envisage any levers of executive  power for the head of state. According to him, it was obvious right  from the beginning that if he took this post, he would have to use  his ties in science and politics to attract investors to Armenia.  At  the same time, the head of the state noted that now the overall  atmosphere in Armenia is positive - changes that have occurred in the  republic after the "velvet revolution" are perceived by many people  very positively.

"The great expectations of changes are for the better, and it's  important that they turn into real results - in the economy and in  business." My vision is as follows: we have a huge advantage today,  because we are a member of the EEU, and when I say invest in Armenia,  this does not mean that I am inviting to invest in a country with a  population of 3.5 million people. Armenia can become a bridge, or  even maybe a door to the huge Eurasian space where more than 170  million people live .Nowadays, when new technologies and developments  are significant rather than natural resources, Armenia can make a bet  on it. Currently, technologies are developing quite efficiently in  Armenia and many world companies in this field are already working  with us, and Armenia can become a technological bridge between the  conditional East and the West, create its own new technologies that  will have an international quality, and distribute them in the  Eurasian space, "the Armenian President believes.

Sarkissian recalled that he was recently in France, and managed to  meet with many French companies, for example, Dassault Systemes,  Orange, THALES. "There were meetings not only with high-tech  companies, I met with the owner of Chanel. In Armenia, the traditions  of jewelry business are strong, it would be nice to combine our  traditions and world technologies," he concluded.
