According to him, the work of the new Armenian government, aimed at combating corruption, is welcomed by the community of American investors. However, the Ambassador stressed that it is still too early to announce new major investment projects. "We receive a lot of inquiries from American investors regarding investment opportunities in Armenia. Investors want to see whether the authorities of Armenia are really consistent in the matter of anti-corruption policy, and how the cases instituted by the investigation committee will be resolved, will they be proceeded in accordance with the requirements of the law, " Mills explained.
Consequently, today the US government is considering all possible areas of support for Armenia, in particular regarding the increase in funding, which is provided through assistance from USAID and other US government agencies.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the USA in 2017 increased by 68.2% to $ 204.8 million. In particular, exports increased by 76.5% to $ 68.5 million, with imports up 64.3% to $ 136.3 million .
