The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in the first half of  2018 increased by 12.1% per annum with a decrease in passenger  traffic by 7.5%

ArmInfo.The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in the first half of 2018 increased by 12.1% (against growth of 47.7% a year earlier), amounting to 14 417.7  thousand tons. Of these, 12 138.9 thousand tons (82.3% of the total)  accounted for road transport with an annual growth of 14.8%. This is  evidenced by the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia.

According to statistical data, rail freight traffic for the reporting  period increased by 6.9% to 1,434.8 thousand tons. Air  transportation, on the contrary, decreased - by 26.9% - to 7.9  thousand tons. The main pipeline supplied 836.1 thousand tons of  natural gas, which is 10.4% less than the same period last year.   Freight turnover decreased by 3.9% - to 2,077 million tons-km.

Passenger traffic for the reporting period decreased by 7.5%, against  a decline of 4% in the past year, amounting to 91 477 thousand  people. With the increase in rail transportation by 7.5% - to 159.6  thousand people, air - by 10.6% to 1 210 thousand people. and  passenger transportation by electric transport - by 12.8% to 11,573.8  thousand people, passenger motor transport decreased by 10.1% to  78,533.6 thousand people. Passenger turnover decreased by 6.1% - to  1,190.8 million passengers-km.
