Armenia is one of the most popular destinations for Russian tourists  of retirement age

ArmInfo.  Armenia along with Moldova, Ukraine and  Belarus is the most popular holiday destination for Russian tourists  of retirement age, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the  UFS.Travel service, which analyzed the demand of Russian citizens of  retirement age for independent travel.

At the same time, the service  notes, that instead of previously popular Odessa tourists prefer  Armenian Gyumri, apparently due to the cheapness of air tickets to  the second city of the country.  Burgas (Bulgaria), Prague (Czech  Republic), Tivat (Montenegro), Riga (Latvia) and Munich (Germany) are  the top European touristic destinations for Russian pensioners.

It is noted that in comparison with previous year the total number of  self-traveling pensioners has not changed. Tourists over 55 prefer to  go on trips, buying tours. They are motivated by the desire to enjoy  a quiet, planned holiday with a Russian-speaking guide, and the  opportunity to contact the person in charge if there are problems in  the journey.

According to official statistics, in the first half of 2018, 685  thousand people visited Armenia for tourist purposes with an increase  of 10.2% year-over-year.
