ArmInfo. It is necessary to invest up to $ 1.5 million to restore "Bagramyan" the poultry farms, the former owner of Baghramyan poultry farms Armenak Khachatryan told at a press conference on August 17. "There are property assets, but to fully restore the production cycle, it is necessary to ensure working capital," he stressed.
Today, according to the former owner, Baghramyan poultry factories located in various regions of the country - Gndevaz, Baghramyan, Vardenis and Ekhegnut - are put up to auction at very low prices. He presented the background, according to which, in December 2016, poultry farms, ensuring jobs for 450 people, completely stopped operation. "It all began in December 2014, when the national currency devaluated by 20-30%. Then most of the economic entities switched to calculating at the dollar exchange rate, however we continued to sell products in AMD at the old price. Since 2015, according to the law, it has been forbidden to raise prices for eggs and poultry meat, as a result of which a large number of poultry farms were closed. Those economic entities that continued to work under these conditions suffered losses total amount of which reached 700 million drams.
At the same time, the cost of natural gas, which was consumed by factories, was calculated according to the current dollar exchange rate for the reporting month. And at the same time, at the largest factory, on which about 500-600 thousand birds were grown, gas was cut off because of debts, which led to an obvious deplorable result, "he said.
At the same time, according to Khachatryan, tax terror began at the factories. As a result, all the factories stopped their work. But the businessman did not give up, and started to import eggs and poultry from Russia, faced with serious problems as a result. He was declared a "traitor" and forced to cease business activities. The former owner of the Baghramyan poultry farms was forced to emigrate from the country, as persecutions began, which affected his family members as well.
The businessman returned to homeland only after the revolutionary events and met with government officials. "They promised to provide assistance in the search for investors and donors. But my concern is that the process should be launched as soon as possible. The largest of its poultry farms in Armavir region has already been sold by the former government at an auction at a ridiculously low price, but it still does not work. A similar fate threatens other factories, "he stressed.
The businessman believes that if he manages to return the property, the operation of the factories will be re- launched and new technologies will be introduced. "Perhaps the volume of production will not be so high at first, but we intend to fill the local market with quality products," he said, without excluding the possibility of further export
