ArmInfo. The unit of the Yerevan Thermal Power Plant will be put into operation on September 25 after the completion of preventive maintenance activities, Arkadi Gevorgyan, Deputy Director General of the unit for technical issues told ArmInfo correspondent on August 29.
According to him, in total 10.6 billion drams were allocated for the project. These are mostly the TPP's own funds accumulated on a special account of the plant for the last 3 years. The contractor of the work is US General Electric. As a result of modernization, the unit's capacity will increase by 7 MW, and the efficiency will increase by 1%, the annual additional volume of generated electricity will be about 60 million kW / h. The station was stopped on August 5.
To recall, the gas turbine power unit with the combined cycle of the Yerevan TPP was built on a loan provided by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and was put into commercial operation in April 2010. The rated power of the unit is 243 MW, the thermal power is about 434 GJ / h. The Yerevan TPP is a customer of Iranian natural gas, which is supplied to Armenia in exchange for electricity at a rate of 3 kWh per 1 cubic meter of gas. The last time the unit was stopped for maintenance work in June 2014. Then the cost of overhaul amounted to 9.5 billion drams, 90% of which were used to purchase spare parts for the gas turbine. The planned preventive maintenance is held every 36 thousand hours of work of the station.
