The decision of the government on the return of CJSC "High Voltage Networks of Armenia" under the system of state administration was justified, Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia Artur Grigoryan expressed such a point of view at a press conference in Yerevan.
According to him, the main goal of this decision was to increase the efficiency of state management of the company. Following the negotiations with the Tashir Group of Companies, the parties managed to come to mutual understanding. The Minister stressed that the state control service carries out monitoring in the company, as a result of which it will be clear whether there is a need for audit of the company or not. He also informed that currently large investment projects are being implemented at facilities located on the balance sheet of the "High Voltage Electric Networks of Armenia" - electric substations and air lines built in the Soviet times, which are worn- out and obsolete have been modernized. In particular, the Noraduz- Lichk-Vardenis-Vaik-Vorotan and Lalvar-Noyemberyan power lines are being modernized, Shinuair, Hakhtanak, Vanadzor, Ashnak and other substations are being reconstructed. The implementation of these programs will reduce losses in networks, increase their effectiveness.
To recall, the Armenian government at its meeting on June 21 this year canceled the decision of the former government on August 24, 2017 on the transfer of CJSC "High-Voltage Networks of Armenia" to private management. The former government signed an agreement with Tashir-Capital CJSC on September 25, 2017, which was to enter into force only after 6 months. According to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, two large electrical networks should not be owned by a single owner.
To note, there are 13 substations with a 220 KW capacity and 2 substations with a 110 KW capacity on the balance sheet of the High-Voltage Electric Networks of Armenia. The total capacity of 33 power transformers is 2561.0 MVA, and one switching point is 220 KW. The power of the operating power transformers installed at the 220 KW and 110 KW substations is sufficient to transfer the consumed electricity. The total length of overhead lines with projected parameters of 330. 220 and 110 KW is 1914.73 km, including 127.62 km - 330KW, 1366.51 km - 220 KW, 420.6 km - 11 KW, 26.58 km of which are located in the territory of Georgia, as well as 9.6 km - by 10 and 6 KW. The company also operates a wind farm "Lori" with 4 units with a total capacity of 2.64 MW. The power system of the Republic of Armenia via the switching point "Agarak" 220KW is connected to the power system of the Islamic Republic of Iran via interstate lines "Agar - 1,2" 220KW, and over the air lines "Alaverdi" 220 KW, Lalvar and Ninotsminda in 110 KW with power system of the Republic of Georgia. In the territory of Armenia, the Company conducts economic activities in the transmission and production of electric power. The company consists of an administrative apparatus with its divisions and 9 branches, of which the branches "Eastern", "Western", "Central", "Goris", "Zangazur", "Northern", "Southern" carry out the main licensed monopoly activity -transfer of energy (capacity) of the Republic of Armenia through the company's high-voltage transmission lines.
