ArmInfo. At the end of October this year, a feasibility study of the construction project of Shnokhskaya HPP in Armenia will be prepared. On August 29, RA Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Arthur Grigoryan stated at the press conference in Yerevan, responding to the question of ArmInfo.
According to him, after the development of the feasibility study, the project must undergo environmental expertise, and only after that a proposal for the construction of this generation facility will be formed. The construction project itself, as the minister noted, was developed back in Soviet times and provided for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 76 MW, but now, after research, it has become possible to increase the capacity of the future station to 124 MW by building a 19 km water tunnel. The given project, the minister emphasized, is of great importance for the energy complex of Armenia, as it will enable more efficient use of own energy resources.
Earlier, ArmInfo informed, the Russian group of companies "Tashir" shows interest in the construction of Shnokh hydroelectric power station. The state project, developed back in 1970, envisaged the construction of a hydroelectric power station in the northern part of the Debed River (in the Lori region of Armenia). In the current year, the Tashir Group of Companies revised the project plan, resulting in the development of a new improved version taking into account modern technological solutions. So, in the near future it will be possible to build a new, advanced HPP with a capacity of 124 MW instead of 76 MW with the capacity to 460 million kW / h of electricity. Investments in the project within four years will amount to about $ 200 million.
