ArmInfo. The Armenian government intends to release the drivers of private taxis from any kinds of taxes. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this on September 18 during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.
According to the Prime Minister, at present the issue is being discussed within the framework of reforms of the country's Tax Code. "This is a very important decision and has a social importance, and according to our observations, many people who have work, including in government institutions and private organizations, solve social problems of their families by offering private taxi service," the head of government said. This, according to the head of the Armenian government, will become a kind of assistance to these people.
At the same time, Pashinyan stressed the importance of safe transportation. The government will try to solve the problem by improving the quality of car maintenance. "At this stage, as we know, car maintenance is not carried out at a proper level and is rather fictitious, and we will do everything possible to ensure that this process was aimed at improving the safety of transportation," he said. At the same time, the prime minister hopes that, after being freed from taxes, private taxi drivers will be able to reduce tariffs. The solution will also solve many of the problems associated with the congestion of urban transport.
