ArmInfo. According to a study by the Ministry of Territorial Development and Administration, 95% of seasonal and 70-75% of long-term Armenian labor migrants leave for Russia.
This was during the 6th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Migration Policy under the UNECE Collegium, First Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Development of Armenia Vache Terteryan. "Armenia is a state-donor of the labor force, and the migration flows from our country are mainly directed to Russia," he said.
With membership in the EAEU, according to Terteryan, new prospects for deepening the integration processes opened for Armenia, and the accession agreement gave a new impetus to the migration processes in the region, as a more liberal regime was created for our labor migrants in comparison with the citizens of third countries.
However, Terteryan stressed that there are still certain obstacles to the free movement of labor. Answering the question of ArmInfo, the Deputy Head of the Department noted that the main problems faced by labor migrants are legal protection, issues of compliance with working codes, provision of social guarantees, etc. "In general, these are all those issues that relate to labor remuneration, protection and security, "he said.
In this vein, Terteryan added that within the framework of the EAEU member countries are going to synchronize the legal regulation of the labor market. "We must achieve that our labor force feels comfortable both in our country, and in the Eurasian space, and in third countries. Of course, everything will be carried out on the principles of reciprocity in terms of length of service, pay, pensions, medical care, etc.>, - said the official.
At the meeting of the Committee, he said, it is necessary to consider a wide range of issues that will be consistently resolved with the goal of liberalizing economic relations. "It is necessary to come to the level when we can be represented in the labor markets not only as a labor force, but also in an organized format, in particular, in the form of companies and enterprises," he stressed.
In conclusion, Terteryan noted that the decisions taken at the meeting will contribute to the solution of existing problems and will necessarily proceed from the interests of all the countries participating in the EAEC. "I am confident that we will be able to identify and outline further steps to address the many issues that our migrant workers face," he concluded.
Recall that earlier ArmInfo reported that annually over 200 thousand Armenian trade migrants leave for Russia to seasonal earnings.
