On September 20, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a famous American doctor of Armenian origin, one of the leaders of the medical college named after David Gefen of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the producer of the Holocaust film "Promise", Dr. Eric Esraelian and the rector of the University of California Los Angeles, a biologist, academician Jeanne Block.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of developing cooperation between higher educational institutions of Armenia and the University of California, Los Angeles, which, in turn, will further deepen the Armenian-American educational ties. Nikol Pashinyan touched on the democratic changes taking place in Armenia and noted that not only the political but also the cultural and educational revolution took place in the country, which provided an excellent opportunity to carry out serious reforms in the field of education. According to the Prime Minister, education is one of the cornerstones of the development of a democratic society and economic progress, and the Armenian government, taking into account the high educational potential of the Republic of Armenia in the field of innovations and information technologies, is striving for reforms aimed at transforming Armenia from an agrarian country into a technologically advanced country.
Erik Esraelian and Jean Bloch wished the Armenian government success in implementing reforms, including in the field of education. They expressed their readiness to support this process, in particular, by developing cooperation in business, technology, engineering, sharing experience and implementing educational programs. Eric Esrailian also informed Prime Minister Pashinyan that in the near future it is planned to open the Center for Armenian Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.
