ArmInfo.Headed by the chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, Ara Bablyan, the parliamentary delegation of Armenia held a meeting with the vice-president of the Swiss Confederation Uli Maurer during the visit to Switzerland on September 25 in Bern.
As the RA NA press office reports, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, the head of the Armenian parliament, referring to the Armenian-Swiss relations, noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations they have gained more active dynamics during the last decade. In this context, the head of the legislative branch noted with satisfaction the close cooperation of the two states at international venues. He also pointed to the importance of the contribution of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups to the development of bilateral relations.
According to the Chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia, the scope of the Armenian-Swiss cooperation is quite wide: trade and economic ties, effective cooperation is being carried out within the framework of assistance programs, professional skills and educational programs are being strengthened, and there are legal agreements on legal base.
Speaking about integration processes, Ara Babloyan noted that Armenia can become a bridge between the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union. As a supporter of strengthening and developing friendly relations between Armenia and Switzerland, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia assured that efforts will be made for further development and expansion of bilateral cooperation.
Vice-President of the Swiss Confederation Uli Maurer noted that the friendship between the two countries and peoples is on a solid basis.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon issues related to the activities of the Swiss-Armenian Chamber of Commerce, the intensification of bilateral economic relations, cooperation in the sphere of tourism, culture and in other spheres. In particular, Ara Babloyan raised the issue of the importance of using the direct flight Armenia-Switzerland.
