ArmInfo. The Investigation Commission of the National Assembly of Armenia on studying the feasibility of gas and electricity tariffs will consist of 11 members. The decision was made at the sitting of the National Assembly on October 3.
According to the main speaker, Mikael Melkumyan, MP from the ''Tsarukyan'' bloc faction, 5 members of the commission will be represented by the Republican Party's most numerous faction, three by the ''Tsarukyan '' bloc faction, 2 by the ARF Dashanktsutyun faction. Without interfering in the affairs of the two natural monopolists - "Gazprom Armenia" and "Electric Networks of Armenia", the commission will try to study the available reserves for reducing tariffs, which will have a positive effect not only on the population, but also on the economy as a whole. The Commission will also work actively with the Public Services Regulatory Commission.
To note, according to Part 1 of Article 20 of the Constitutional Law "On the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly", at the request of at least a quarter of the total number of MPs, an investigation committee was set to discuss the activities of gas and electricity supply and distribution systems. To recall on September 24, by the decision of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, a working group was established, which will study the components that influence the formation of gas prices. The working group was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. It consisted of 8 people - the Minister of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources, the Director General of Gazprom Armenia and others.
