ArmInfo. The World Bank (WB) is currently developing a new program of cooperation with the Government of Armenia, which will last 4 years. Answering the question of ArmInfo, during this press conference on October 31, the head of the WB Yerevan office Silvia Bosutro said this. "We hope that the new program will bring about important changes in the model of economic growth, which will be more export-oriented," she said.
In particular, she said that the program will cover three key areas, the first of which will deal with improving competitiveness and promoting exports. According to S. Bosutro, those that have the highest potential for economic growth, in particular IT, the agricultural sector and tourism, are highlighted as priority areas.
As the head of the WB Yerevan office noted, at this stage there are 15 current programs that the Bank is implementing in Armenia. "One of our programs concerns agro-tourism, which has a tremendous development potential in Armenia, since at the expense of small progress, good results can be recorded," she concluded.
Armenia has been a member of the World Bank since 1992. In total, the WB provided Armenia with funds in the form of loans and grants in the order of $ 2.3 billion.
