ArmInfo. With the financing of the Eurasian Stabilization and Development Fund (EFSD), which is managed by the Eurasian Development Bank, several irrigation systems are planned to be restored in Armenia. The Fund's Executive Director Andrey Shirokov reported this to ArmInfo correspondent.
According to him, at present, drawdown is underway for the implementation of the project, competitive procedures are being held to select the direct implementers of the program. "There are several channels that are planned to be restored with the financing of the fund. For this reason, many tenders will be held and contractors will be selected in different areas," the Executive Director of the Fund said.
Earlier it was reported that the Eurasian Development Bank will allocate a loan to Armenia in the amount of $ 40 million for the modernization of irrigation systems and the development of institutional capacities of water users. The total cost of the five-year project is estimated at $ 50 million, of which $ 10 million will be equity participation in the program of the RA government. The loan with an annual rate of 2% is granted for a period of 20 years, of which 10 years is a grace period for payments. The loan program will be aimed at improving the efficiency of the irrigation system and expanding the area of irrigated land. The loan is for a period of 20 years, of which it is planned to build and restore throughout the territory of Armenia 8 gravity-free systems with a total length of 70,4 km, 8.1 km of main canals, 54.1 km of inter-farm canals, 277.8 km of on-farm networks.
