ArmInfo. For 10 months of 2018, the metallurgical industry of Armenia reduced production by 2.7% per annum, against 12% growth in the same period of 2017.
According to the RA Statistics Committee, in January-October 2018, ferromolybdenum production in Armenia increased by 4% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 5,744 tons. In October alone, 758 tons of ferromolybdenum were produced, which is 2.8% more than the September volume.
In January-October of this year the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 1.5% - to 9 346 tons, and in October alone an increase of 21.6% was recorded - to 1006 tons.
The production of converter (rough) copper decreased in January-October by 9.1% to 8,831 tons. At the same time, monthly production of converter (rough) copper decreased by 55.3% to 355 tons.
Copper concentrate production in January-October amounted to 274.1 thousand tons, which is 23% less than a year ago, but in October alone production amounted to 27.1 thousand tons, with a monthly increase of 19.9%.
The production of aluminium foil decreased in January-October by 9.5% per annum - to 24,710 tons, and in October alone the output of aluminium foil increased significantly - by 83.8% to 2,220 tons. The production of rolled aluminiumm in y-o-y terms decreased by 71.2%, reaching 156 tons.
In January-October, the production of steel pipes reached 8,869 tons, which is 0.3% less than a year ago. In October, production fell by 14% to 890 tons. The production of zinc concentrate increased in January-October by 21.4% per annum - to 9,785 tons, of which only 1,031 tons accounted for October, with an increase of 22.4%.
Data on the production of molybdenum briquettes in the statistics of the reporting period are not available.
According to the RA Customs Service, in the first half of 2018, foil was mainly exported to the USA, Germany, and also to the Netherlands, Poland, Canada, and Austria. During the reporting period, copper ore was exported to Bulgaria, Switzerland, Ukraine, Romania. Exports of molybdenum concentrate involved mainly Belarus, as well as Russia and the United States. The entire volume of zinc concentrate was exported to Belarus.
To recall in 2017, the metallurgical industry of Armenia increased its production by 11.3% per annum, against the 11.1% decline for 2016. In particular, ferromolybdenum production increased by 1.1%, molybdenum concentrate - by 2.8%, copper concentrate increased by 10.3% in 2017, aluminium foil - by 14.4%, rolled aluminium - by up to 543 tons, steel pipes - by 36.2%, zinc concentrate - by 22.2%. At the same time, production of converter (rough) copper decreased in 2017 by 6.7%.
