Military personnel insurance fund in Armenia summed up the results of  the year: the volume of paid compensation amounted to 771 million  drams

ArmInfo. On December 13, the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Military Insurance Fund was held at the Armenian Defense Ministry, at which a report on  the payments made was presented.

According to the press service of the department, the executive director of the Fund, Varyuzhan Avetikyan, reported that during the reporting period after 2017  compensations were paid on 15 facts, 10 of which were paid to the  families of the dead servicemen, and 5 - to soldiers having a  disability. According to Avetikyan, taking into account the fact that  at the previous meeting it was decided to pay compensation also to  the families of soldiers killed or disabled in 2015-2016, 147 cases  were made over the last 4 months. Of these, 140 families are dead  soldiers and 7 are families with disabilities."It was decided at the  next meeting of the Board of Trustees to discuss the issue of payment  of compensation for the facts registered before 2015," the report  says.

Varouzhan Avetikyan informed that at present the total amount of  funds raised by the Fund exceeded 12.5 billion drams, and the amount  of compensations paid amounted to 771 million drams. The program, as  noted, continues to successfully operate on the principle of full  transparency and accountability to the public. December 15, 2016 The  deputies of the National Assembly of Armenia with a ratio of 84 votes  in favor, 4 against and 1 abstaining in the third and final reading  adopted the draft on compensation for damage to the life or health of  military personnel while protecting the Republic of Armenia with the  attached package of draft laws.

The author of the initiative, Ex-Minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan,  said then that compensation would be paid to the families of  servicemen who were killed or injured in military operations, while  carrying combat duty on the contact line or performing special  missions: at a time from 5 to 10 million drams and monthly - from 200  to 300 thousand drams for 20 years. To implement this, a special fund  for the insurance of servicemen was created, where every employed  citizen of the Republic of Armenia is obliged to transfer 1000 AMD  each month. The financial resources necessary for the payment of  compensation by the Fund are also generated from payments in the  course of using the services of state or municipal bodies (500 and  200 drams for each service); by selling special bonds; through  incoming grants, gifts and donations; at the expense of the profit  received as a result of management (in the form of investments) by  the collected funds. The law began to operate in 2017 and has no  retroactive effect. All operations of the Foundation can be tracked  on https://www.1000plus.am/ru.

From January 1 to the end of December 2017 The families of 27  soldiers killed as well as 6 soldiers who were wounded during the  fighting received a total of 360 million drams of compensation. In  August 2018, changes were made to the law "On Compensation of Harm  Caused to the Life or Health of Military Personnel under the Defense  of the Republic of Armenia", thanks to which families of military  personnel who died or were injured after January 1, 2015 (and the  military themselves) will be able to enjoy state support. Prior to  this, soldiers with disabilities, their families and families of the  military who died after January 1, 2017 had the right to support the  state.
