ArmInfo.Detailed discussions were held at the Transport Project Implementation Organization (TPIO) SNCO on the construction of a new bridge near the Bagratashen border checkpoint with Georgia, which will be carried out by CEO Ariana Tunnel Dam Iranian Company, which won the tender.
According to the SNCO, the new bridge connecting Armenia and Georgia will have 4 lanes. Accordingly, the width of the new bridge will be several times larger than the width of the current one, which will shorten the passage time at the customs point and increase its carrying capacity. The existing bridge will remain as a backup, which will increase the security level of the border control point.
According to the press service of the company, the parties discussed the progress of the work being implemented, in particular, the timing of the technical task. It was noted that in order to receive the final draft, it is necessary to make clarifications and discuss certain technical specifications. One of the problems was called quality assurance with the established deadlines for the implementation of the program. Representatives of TPIO, in turn, pledged to solve all the problems that have arisen that impede the process of promoting the work.

To note, Ariana Tunnel Dam Co was founded in 2007, the headquarters is located in Tehran. The company has extensive experience in civil engineering, which includes such objects as dams, hydroelectric power stations, tunnels, roads, buildings and special objects. The company has offices in Tajikistan, Georgia, Armenia, China and South Korea. The bridge will be built as part of the Northern Corridor Modernization Program with an EBRD loan of 10.3 million euros.
