ArmInfo. As a result of the tender held in Armenia, a company has been identified that will manufacture new excise stamps, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of the Republic of Armenia David Ananyan informed at a government meeting on January 24.
According to him, the need for new excise stamps is due to security. The fact is, continued the head of the SRC, that recently cases of accidental swallowing of excise duty stamps by children have become frequent. For this reason, it was decided to reduce their thickness from 50 to 30 microns. In addition, the stamps will now have to be more strongly glued to the goods, and they will become softer. All these issues, said David Ananyan, will be the subject of negotiations with representatives of the winning company in the competition, after which an agreement will be signed with it. During the negotiations, as the head of the SRC noted, alternative solutions to the problem are not excluded. "Following the results of the negotiations an optimal decision will be made", David Ananyan assured.
To recall, earlier Armenian Healthcare Minister Arsen Torosyan, on his Facebook page, said that he had discussed this issue with David Ananyan. According to Torosyan, the SRC is aware of the problem and is already taking steps in this direction. In particular, in three months new samples of excise stamps made of other materials will be put into circulation. "New stamps, firstly, will be better glued to the product, and when unglued, they will be softer and, even if children accidentally swallow them, they will not be dangerous. We also agreed to discuss the issue with manufacturers and importers so that these stamps were attached so that they could not be unglued, "the Minister said. Arsen Torosyan also urges parents to be as vigilant as possible and to prevent such stickers from falling into the hands of children and swallowing them. The Healthcare Minister assures that the health of children is in the center of attention of the government.
