ArmInfo. First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Gegham Gevorgyan today at the invitation of President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, (IFAD) Gilbert F. Houngbo left for to Italy.
According to the press service of the department, Gevorgyan will take part in the 42nd session of the annual Governing Council gathering of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), which is held under the title "rural innovation and entrepreneurship".
During the meeting, in particular, issues relating to global challenges to social entrepreneurship and innovation in agriculture, and the further development of the agro sector will be discussed. The meeting participants will also touch upon the future activities of the Fund.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) was founded in 1977 (the central location of IFAD is Rome (Italy)). IFAD is a specialized UN organization whose main goal is to combat poverty in rural areas of developing countries. The Republic of Armenia has joined IFAD since 1993 and is on the list of developed countries.
