ArmInfo. On February 22, Armenian Minister of Economic Development and Investments Tigran Khachatryan accepted the mission of realizing technological potential and the Operational Development Policy of the World Bank (WB).As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, Tigran Khachatryan presented the key points of the RA government program to the mission representatives. According to him, increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the Armenian economy is impossible without financial investments for technical and technological modernization.According to Khachatryan, there are several tools that suggest in which direction the government of Armenia should move. In particular, as the minister pointed out, a number of WB reports are a good indicator in terms of the reforms implemented in the republic, since they reflect the position of the private sector, and not the executive body.
Representatives of the WB, in turn, noted that the Bank is preparing an analytical work on the ICT field. Analysis, as they pointed out, can be creeping in the implementation of the priorities of the Cabinet. According to representatives of the WB, the Bank assists the RA government in the implementation of the planned programs. The group, led by WB Macroeconomic Director Sandip Mahajani, inquired about the activities undertaken by the RA government towards improving the investment environment. Were discussed legislative initiatives in this direction, as well as issues of development of business and economic diversification.Armenia has been a member of the World Bank since 1992. In total, the WB provided Armenia with funds in the form of loans and grants of approximately $ 2.3 billion.
