ArmInfo. In the near future, a large textile manufacturing plant will be opened in Yerevan. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this on March 27 in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
According to him, the company will work about 3 thousand people with high wages. The Prime Minister stressed that in recent years, the development of the textile industry has been driven by cheap labor. However, the government focuses the economy on the creation of high-tech industries with high wages. And in this context, as Nikol Pashinyan noted, it is important to put the textile industry into a segment with a high salary. "A good quality jacket made in Armenia should not cost 5 thousand drams, it should be estimated at least 10 thousand drams," the head of government said, adding that serious investments are already being made in the development of the sector. One of such enterprises, as the head of the government noted, is "Tavushtekstil", which was established thanks to the investments of the Russian entrepreneur of Armenian nationality Suren Yeritsyan. In the city of Gyumri $ 2.5 million was invested in the production of jeans, which are exported to the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
At the same time, the Prime Minister pointed out that from now on there will be no political patronage in the country. "And the company" Alex Group " (controlled by a former deputy and oligarch Samvel Aleksanyan - Ed. note), and others must correctly assess the situation, and our attitude towards them will not be hostile. All those who act within the law will be equal before the law ", said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that the interests and rights of all manufacturers in the country are reliably protected by law.
To note, according to the data of the Business Armenia Foundation, over the past 2 years, textile production, exports of clothing and footwear have increased by 35% to 43% in Armenia. Moreover, more than 40% of products are exported to the countries of the European Union. In addition to products of mass consumption, the companies of the sphere also supply samples of their products to local and foreign distributors.
