The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-February 2019 to the same period of the previous year decreased by 61.4% - to 1,863.4 thousand tons, against a growth of 28.8% a year earlier. Of these, 1,069.8 thousand tons (57.4% of the total) accounted for road transport, which is 73.5% less than a year ago. This is stated in the report of the RA Statistics Committee.
According to statistics, rail freight traffic during the reporting period, on the contrary, increased by 4.9% - to 437.5 thousand tons, air transportation - by 30% - to 2.6 thousand tons. 353.5 thousand tons of natural gas was delivered via the pipeline, which is 5.1% less than a year ago. Freight turnover decreased by 2.5% - to 782.9 million tons-km. Passenger traffic during the reporting period decreased by 0.9% - to 29,239.9 thousand people, against a decline of 2% a year earlier. Moreover, car transportation decreased by 3% - to 25,041.9 thousand people. At the same time, rail transportation increased - by 9.2% - to 52.1 thousand people, air transport - by 74.6% to 590.9 thousand people, transportation of passengers by electric transport - by 7.7% to 3 555 thousand people. Passenger traffic decreased by 2.9% - to 363 million passenger-km.
