ArmInfo. In January-February 2019, the metallurgical industry of Armenia reduced production volumes by 17.6% compared to the same period of 2018, against a 10.8% decline a year earlier. According to the RA Statistical Committee, in January-February 2019 in the metallurgical industry of Armenia, growth was recorded only in ferromolybdenum production - by 46% compared to the same period of the previous year, with a volume of 1041 tons, against a decline of 38.6% a year earlier. In February alone 555 tons of ferromolybdenum were produced, which is 14.2% more than the January volume.
In the first two months, the production of molybdenum concentrate decreased by 4.6% - to 1,709 tons, against a decline of 0.7% a year earlier. In February alone, production increased by 7.9% - to 887 tons. Copper concentrate production decreased by 19.5% per annum - to 43.4 thousand tons, against a decline of 15.2% a year earlier. In the monthly terms (February versus January), the volume of copper concentrate production decreased by 19.2% to 19.4 thousand tons.
Production of zinc concentrate declined in January-February 2019 by 3.4% per annum - to 1,551 tons, against 28.7% growth a year earlier. In February, the volume of production of zinc concentrate increased by 12.8% to 822 tons.
The output of aluminum foil in January-February 2019 compared with the same period last year decreased by 16.6% - to 4,715 tons, against 17.7% growth a year earlier. At the same time, the February production volume of aluminum foil increased by 22.9% to 2,600 tons.
The production of steel pipes in January-February 2019 compared with the same period of 2018 decreased by 14.5% to 1 399 tons, against a growth of 42.4% a year earlier. On a monthly basis, production increased by 3.3% to 711 tons.
Data on the production of converter copper, molybdenum briquettes and aluminum rolled products in statistics for January-February of this year are missing.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
To recall, the metallurgical industry of Armenia for 2018 reduced production by 23% per annum, against 11.3% growth in 2017. In particular, the production of ferromolybdenum increased by 10.4%, concentrate of molybdenum - by 1.4%, copper concentrate - by 25.9%. At the same time, the production of aluminum foil decreased by 14.5%, aluminum rolled products - by 69.8%, steel pipes - by 3.5%. Zinc concentrate production increased by 12.3%. At the same time, the production of converter copper decreased by 26.7% in 2018.
