ArmInfo. The deadlines for the appointment of members of the committee for the protection of economic competition and the committee for regulating public services in Armenia will be rescheduled. The National Assembly at an extraordinary meeting on April 9 in the second and final reading adopted amendments to the laws "On the Protection of Economic Competition" and "On the Public Regulatory Body".
Presenting the package, RA Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan stressed that by the second reading new proposals from the MPs and the government had not been received. According to the Minister, according to the current regulations, the members of the mentioned committees were to be appointed by the Parliament on the proposal of the Prime Minister within one year from the moment of the election of the President, and this period expires on April 9. Now it is proposed to postpone this period until June 30. "These appointments were not made for obvious reasons - the dissolution of the National Assembly, the election of the Prime Minister and the formation of the government. Therefore, a similar problem arose," Zeynalyan said, adding that the government will return to a legislative settlement of the problem by the deadline. As of today, the list of committee members has not been presented.
Earlier, the Ombudsman of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, stressed that there is a problem of constitutionality on the issue of appointing members of these committees from the NA, primarily because their term of office has not expired. According to him, since this period expires on April 9, then after that the committees cannot act. In this regard, the possibility of applying to the Constitutional Court is being studied.
