ArmInfo. Armenian Minister of Transport, Communications and IT Hakob Arshakyan participated in the opening of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) on April 9 in Geneva, the press service of the Armenian Transport Ministry reported.
The Forum will be held in Geneva on April 8-12, 2019 and will be dedicated to information and communication technology (ICT) solutions necessary to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. It will bring together over 3.000 participants, including 500 senior policymakers from more than 150 countries, including government ministers and experts, civil society leaders, academics, business leaders and representatives of international organizations.
It will include sessions on cybersecurity, e-agriculture, e-education, gender equality, the environment, infrastructure, and favorable conditions for technology and innovation. Advanced technologies (such as artificial intelligence, robotics, three-dimensional printing, augmented reality, etc.) will be presented, and their impact on sustainable development will be discussed and studied. The Forum is the world's largest annual meeting of the ICT for Development Community, organized by ITU, UNCTAD, UNESCO and UNDP with the participation of another 31 United Nations agencies. The WSIS, entitled "Information and Communication Technologies for Sustainable Development Goals", 2019 will present examples of innovative use of ICT in the interest of achieving national and global development goals by countries, civil society, academic organizations and enterprises.
