ArmInfo.Armenian Ambassador to Belarus Armen Ghevondyan and Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich during the meeting noted the importance of further parliamentary assistance to the development of Armenian-Belarusian interstate cooperation.
The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo that the interlocutors also pointed out the importance of the active interaction of the legislative bodies, both in the bilateral format and in the framework of multilateral inter-parliamentary platforms.
Myasnikovich pointed out the interest of the Belarusian side to develop trade and economic relations with Armenia, including through the establishment of joint investment enterprises, and in the matter of implementing effective cooperation.
In turn, Ghevondyan, after informing about the formation of the Armenian-Belarusian inter-parliamentary friendship group, after the elections to the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia in December last year, stressed the importance of holding a permanent meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission. The interlocutors in the context of stimulating bilateral cooperation discussed cooperation in such areas as science, innovation, health care, and contacts between young people.
To note, according to the National Statistical Committee of Armenia, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Belarus in 2018 was $ 50.3 million with a y-o-y growth of 9.1%. At the same time, exports accounted for $ 11.7 million, a y-o-y growth of 66.5%, and imports - $ 38.6 million, a decline of 1.2%.
