ArmInfo. In the total loan portfolio (excluding prolonged and overdue loans) of the banking system of Armenia, the currency component makes the lion's share - 54.9% or 1.659 trillion drams. According to the data of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia published in the report of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in the y-o-y terms foreign currency loans increased by 2.5%, but within a quarter alone decreased by 0.2%. At the same time, the share of dram lending accounted for 45.1% or 1.360 trillion drams, with a y-o-y growth of 40.6%, and quarterly growth of 4.9%.
According to the source the total volume of bank lending increased by April 2019 by 15.9% per annum, with a quarterly increase of 2.4%, reaching 3.151 trillion drams. Excluding the prolonged and overdue loans, the credit investments of the banking system of Armenia increased by 16.7% year-on-year, and by 2% over the quarter, reaching 3.020 trillion drams.
The share of prolonged and overdue loans as of April 1, 2019 made up respectively 3.15% and 1.02% (against 3.62% and 1.21% a year earlier, and in the previous quarter it was 2.86% and 1%). On an annual basis, the volume of prolonged loans in Armenian banks increased by 0.9% - to 99.4 billion drams and those overdue decreased by 2.8% to 32 billion drams. At the same time, for the first quarter, the extended credits increased by 12.9%, with the growth of the overdue loans by 4.3%.
According to statistical data, the average interest rate on AMD loans by April 2019 stood at the level of 12.57%, against 11.58% in the previous quarter and 13.20% a year earlier. The estimated exchange rate of the dram to the dollar amounted 486.44 AMD / $ 1 by March 29, 2019.
