The new governor of Tavush region of Armenia intends to implement in  the region about 100 new projects totaling about 20 billion drams

ArmInfo. The new governor of Tavush region of Armenia Hayk Chobanyan intends to implement in the region about 100 new projects totaling about 20 billion drams (about  $ 45 million).

On this May 17, in a conversation with journalists in  Yenokavan-resort, Chobanyan himself said, summing up 100 days of his  time at the helm of the regional government.  According to the  governor of Tavush region, the main emphasis in the projects will be  focused on such areas as tourism, agriculture, light industry,  processing industry, environmental issues. At the same time, the head  of the region added that they set a goal to introduce such mechanisms  that would allow using the capabilities of a human resource.

<This year you will have many good reasons to visit our area. We  focus on the development of agriculture and tourism. So, for example,  last year there were 4,500 hectares of irrigated land in our region,  we plan to at least double these figures. We want to develop  innovative agriculture in areas such as crop production, breeding  cattle breeding, restoration of endemic plant varieties in our  region. I would like to emphasize that I completely disagree with the  opinions that our villagers are lazy and do not want to work - this  is absolutely not the case. Unfortunately, the field of agriculture  is now very little profitable. Now our task is to do everything to  increase the profitability of this sector, so that the farmer again  falls in love with his work and wants to do what he likes, and this  direction would be successful and profitable, "said the governor of  Tavush region, adding that after two years There will be no  uncultivated land, regardless of their status.

According to Chobanyan, in 2018, the region already has 1000 hectares  more cultivated land than in 2017, this year it is also planned to  increase the area of used land by another 1000 hectares. Moreover,  according to the head of the region, in parallel with the development  of the agricultural sector, it is also planned to pay attention to  the development of non-formal education, in order to increase the  professional knowledge of farmers, so that they keep up with the  times. According to him, next year at least one agricultural college  will be opened in the region. In addition, in order to raise public  awareness, it is also planned to open regional television and radio  in the coming months.

<Another direction is the development of its own winemaking, the  production of fruit vodka products, the construction of processing  meat production. Literally over the next month, we plan to open a  meat processing plant in the village of Navur - the production of ham  will be launched. It will allow to open about 50 new jobs, "he said,  adding that the goal is also to increase the volume and geography of  the enterprise's production of gloves, which has been operating in  the region for many years.  He also informed that next week the  delegation headed by him would go to Russia to negotiate and attract  new  investment.

<At the end of June, an investment forum will take place in the  region <My step for Tavush>, in which about 200 enterprises will take  part, at least 100 of which are foreign investors from different  countries, including Lebanon, where we were last week, also hope that  from Russia>, said Chobanyan.  According to the governor, serious  attention will be paid to environmental issues, including forest  protection projects. <A serious focus will be on the development of  cultural and historical tourism. We plan to restore the boarding  house of the Union of Composers, in addition to organize Saturday  concerts in the Beethoven Hall. I believe that this will be a serious  impetus for the tourism sector. Considering that Georgia is at our  side, we are planning to use the potentials of the Zvartnots Yerevan  Airport and the Tbilisi Airport, which is more profitable for  tourists, in order to develop Tourism. In addition, we also plan to  implement a project for the repatriation of families. Until 2025, we  plan to return about 5,000 families. We are already negotiating with  families, however, I find it difficult to say when exactly the  project will be launched, but I can say that 10 families have already  returned to their homeland, home to Tavush. This project is aimed at  helping these families to return and get on their feet in their  native land, "said the head of Tavush.  The head of the border area  did not avoid the issue of security. "Security for us is number one  priority, because every minute the situation can change  unpredictably, and the fate of the whole country will depend on us,  so we take this issue into account when we consider each project.  That is, if a building is being built, for example, then there must  necessarily be a refuge there, "he said, adding that the region also  considers targeted projects aimed at helping families of military  personnel standing at the border and protecting the Homeland today.  According to him, these projects are aimed at improving the social  conditions of military personnel and their families, thereby  contributing to their living in the border villages.

In general, according to him, in order for investors to go to Tavush,  it's not money that is needed, but trust, first of all, and they are  ready to faithfully fulfill their commitments and contribute to the  development of the region. <I believe that the most important  indicator of the successful implementation of the tasks set is  demographic indicators. That is, if we see an influx, and not an  outflow of the population, it means that we are moving in the right  direction. Proceeding from this, we will build our work, "the head of  the Tavush region concluded.
