ArmInfo. Armenia's GDP grew in the Q1 of 2019 by 7.1% per annum - to 1.2 trillion drams ($ 2.6 billion), against a higher growth in the Q1 of 2018 - by 9.7% per annum. According to the data of the RA Statistical Committee, the GDP deflator index in the Q1 of 2019 was 103.8%, against 104.3% in the Q1 of 2018.
In terms of GDP, the trade sector, the industrial sector and the services sector remain dominant, but in terms of y-o-y growth, only the services sector remained in drivers. In particular, the services sector has accelerated growth from 16.5% in the Q1of 2018 to 17.3% in the Q1 of2019, while the trading sector, by contrast, slowed growth from 12.9% to 10.1%. Growth slowdown was also observed in the industrial sector - from 8.2% to 2%, and in the construction sector - from 23% to 10.8%. The power supply package deteriorated with a turn from 0.4% growth to the 14% recession. The agricultural sector also showed a decline of 0.2%, while a year earlier in the same period showed a 2.2% increase.
Quarterly, Armenia's GDP declined by 36.4%, against a decline of 38.8% in the Q1 of 2018 and a growth of 7.5% in the Q4 of 2018. A similar situation was observed in the Q1 of 2017 - a decline of 38.1%.
Armenia's per capita GDP in the Q1 of 2019 was 418.9 thousand drams ($ 860), against 374.6 thousand drams ($ 778) in the Q1 of 2018. The change in this indicator was recorded against the background of reducing the population by 0.3% per annum - up to 2962.1 thousand people by April 1, 2019, against a decline of 0.4% a year earlier.
The average settlement rate of dram in January-March 2019 was 487.23 AMD/ $ 1, against 481.39 AMD / $ 1 - in January-March 2018.
According to the World Bank's forecast, GDP growth in Armenia in 2019 will be 4.3%, with acceleration in 2020 to 4.6%. As regards Armenia's foreign trade, the World Bank predicted an increase in exports by 8.8% and imports by 12.2% for 2019. According to the IMF forecast, GDP growth in Armenia in 2019 will be 4.6% with a slowdown in 2020 to 4.5%. The Central Bank of Armenia predicted for 2019 GDP growth in the range of 4.6-6.1%, at the same time expecting in 2019 import growth by 2-4% and export by 4-6%.
