ArmInfo.The anniversary meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Supreme body of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), is taking place at the Palace of Independence in Nur-Sultan, informburo.kz reports.
The meeting was timed to the 25th anniversary of the idea of the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on Eurasian integration and the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the EAEU.
Nursultan Nazarbayev, Head of state Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Head of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan participate in the event.
President of Moldova Igor Dodon also takes part in the meeting as the head of the observer state at the EAEU. The head of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, came to Nur-Sultan as an honored guest.
President of Kazakhstan, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, opened the meeting: "I greet those gathered in the city of Nur- Sultan! Allow me to welcome the author of the idea of Eurasian integration, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev."
According to him, thanks to the strategic vision of the First President of Kazakhstan, Eurasian integration has become a reality that has reformatted the economic landscape of the continent. "Given his historical contribution to the formation of the EEU, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to give Nursultan Nazarbayev the status of honorary chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. On behalf of Kazakhstan, I would like to express my gratitude to the Russian president and all partners for unanimous support," he said.
Earlier it was reported that on May 29 in Nur-Sultan an anniversary meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held. The event is dedicated to two anniversaries - the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the 25th anniversary of the idea of Eurasian integration. The agenda includes issues of international activities of the EAEU in 2018, development of economic cooperation with third countries, the main guidelines of the macroeconomic policy of the EAEU states for 2019-2020, implementation of the digital agenda of the EAEU, steps to ensure the free movement of goods and services, as well as a number of other topics.
