ArmInfo.The "Assistance in the management of tax administration and policy" program, which is a continuation of many years of cooperation between the World Bank (WB), the Government of Armenia and the State Revenue Committee (SRC), aims to improve the efficiency of tax policy and create a transparent tax system.
Head of the Armenian office of the WB Sylvie Bossoutrot stated this during the event dedicated to the launch of this program, which is implemented in Armenia by the WB, with funding from the Foundation for Effective Governance of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. As reported by the press office of the SRC, during the event, the head of the SRC David Ananyan, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Armenia Judith Margaret Farnworth and the head of the WB office in Armenia Sylvie Bossoutrot signed a cooperation agreement, after which the head of the working group Migara de Silva and coordinator Anahit Basentsyan presented the details start up program.
According to the source, the program is aimed at improving taxpayer service and targeted revenue collection through the development of the institutional and structural capacities of the SRC. In addition, the program also aims to eliminate the deficiencies found in 2017 through the Tax Administration Diagnostic Assessment Tool (TADAT). Works are carried out in 16 directions by local and international experts. RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, representatives of the World Bank and various international organizations also attended the opening ceremony of the program. To note, in connection with the upcoming tax reforms in Armenia, according to local analysts, as well as experts from the IMF, the World Bank and rating agencies, one can expect a temporary certain decline in budget revenues from direct taxes and a gradual increase in revenues from indirect taxes, excise taxes and various fees. . To maintain the upward trend in budget revenues, in their opinion, it is necessary to streamline and strengthen the tax administration system.
