ArmInfo.Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Artur Javadyan left for Basel (Switzerland) on a working visit, where he will participate in the 89th annual general meeting of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). According to the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia, during the meeting issues related to the regulation of the financial system, international standards of banking, current challenges of banking supervision will be discussed.
In addition, the participants of the meeting will be presented the main indicators of the annual report of the Bank for International Settlements.
During the visit, a number of bilateral meetings with heads of partner structures are also envisaged. In particular, the head of the Central Bank of Armenia will meet with the chairmen of the National Bank of China and the Central Bank of the Netherlands.
Artur Javadyan is also scheduled to meet with Swiss-Armenian entrepreneur Vartan Sirmakes, during the meeting issues regarding the possibility of implementing new investment programs in Armenia will be motivated.
To note, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international financial institution established in 1930 in Basel (Switzerland) by the central banks of England, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Japan and a group of US commercial banks led by the Morgans banking house. Carries out a special mission, which is to serve the central banks in their quest for monetary and financial stability, promote international cooperation in these areas and act as a bank for central banks. Currently, the BIS shareholders are 60 central banks, which together account for about 95% of global GDP. BIS clients include central banks and international organizations.
