ArmInfo. In January-July 2019, 4,302.4 million kWh of electricity were generated in Armenia, which is less than the indicator of the previous year by 5% (against growth by 0.8% a year earlier). According to the RA Statistical Committee in July alone electricity generation increased by 2.4% to 659.6 million kW/h.
In January-July 2019, TPPs reduced electricity generation by 19.5% per annum to 1508.2 million kWh. At the same time, hydropower plants increased electricity generation by 5% - up to 1,581.2 million kWh. During the reporting period, the Armenian NPP generated electricity in the amount of 1 203.5 million kWh, with a y-o-y growth of 5.2%. During the reporting period 16.6 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were generated with a y-o-y decline of 33.3%. Wind power plants generated 2 million kWh of electricity during the reporting period, increasing the volume in y-o-y terms 2-fold. Solar power plants generated 7.5 million kWh of electricity during the reporting period, with 3-fold y-o-y growth.
It should be noted that electricity generation in Armenia in 2018 amounted to 7776.9 million kWh, with y- o-y growth of 0.2%. Thermal power plants increased electricity generation by 17.5%, hydroelectric power stations - by 2.2%, Armenian nuclear power plant - by 10%. Wind power plants reduced electricity production in 2018 by 9.5%, while solar power plants, in contrast, increased production 12.8 -fold.
