ArmInfo. Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Armenia Jonathan Lacote and the delegation of the French Development Agency ( AFD), headed by the head of the Caucasus region office Gaelle Assayag.
According to the press service of the government, the Deputy Prime Minister praised the consistent strengthening of the Armenian-French privileged relations in various fields. In turn, Ambassador Lacote emphasized the importance of established effective cooperation with the office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
The interlocutors discussed current issues related to the construction of the Vedi reservoir. According to the report, the construction is carried out in cooperation with the AFD within the framework of the loan agreement and is the largest project of the agency in Armenia. It should be noted that in January 2016, a loan agreement worth 75 million EUR was signed between Armenia and the French Development Agency for the construction of the Vedi reservoir. The document was signed on the basis of the strategic program for the long-term development of Armenia for 2014-2025. The loan is provided for a period of 20 years with a six-year grace period. The construction of the dam and supporting infrastructures is scheduled for completion in March 2021.
