ArmInfo.In Armenia, the service sector increased volumes in January-August 2019. 15.5% per annum - up to 1.3 trillion drams ($ 2.6 billion), against 18.9% growth a year earlier. According to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, for August 2019 alone the volume of services provided amounted to 185.5 billion drams (over $ 389.6 million), with monthly growth of only 1.2%.
According to statistical data, in the reporting period of 2019, growth rates are accelerated only in terms of services in the areas of tourist accommodation and catering - from 29% to 31.6% and information and communication - from 7% to 7.7%. At the same time, a slowdown in y-o-yl growth in the volume of services in the cultural sectors was recorded - from 34.5% to 25.4%, health care - from 26.9% to 14.6%, real estate - from 11.3% to 4.4% transport - from 12.9% to 6.8%, administrative and support activities - from 19.9% to 11.6%, professional, scientific and technical activities - from 21.6% to 4.2%, and financial sectors (incl. insurance) - from 17.7% to 17.2%. The y-o-y dynamics of the volume of services in the field of education unfolded from a 1.7% decline to a 6.7% growth.
According to statistical data, the sector of culture, entertainment and recreation traditionally leads in terms of the volume of services provided - 300.6 billion drams (23.4% of the total). The financial sector ranks second in the volume of services - 283.5 billion drams (22.1% of the total). information and communication sector occupies the third place - 172.8 billion drams (13.4%), the fourth - by the sector of transport - 153.1 billion drams (11.9%). The fifth place occupied by the food and tourist accommodationservices sector - 118.1 billion drams (9.2% of the total volume of services provided).
The average calculated exchange rate of AMD to the US dollar in August 2019 was 476 dr./$ 1, and in January-August - 482.19 dr./$ 1, against 482.43 dr./$ 1 in August 2018 and 482.01 dr./$ 1 in January- August 2018
