ArmInfo. Inclusion of Yerevan in the top 10 most active tourist destinations in the world in 2020 by Booking.com portal means continued double-digit growth in tourism. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
According to him, the development of tourism opens up great opportunities for small, medium and large businesses. "I repeat my request to taxi drivers and casual passers-by to treat tourists well," the head of government said.
He also reminded that tourists coming to Yerevan also visit the regions. "So, the above-mentioned possibilities apply to both cities and villages. Today we get information that tourists visit such villages that do not have any tourist infrastructures. Tourists often hire cars in villages, buy food, just to visit the forests or fields," Nikol Pashinyan wrote.
It should be noted that, according to the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, in 2018 the number of Russian tourists visiting Armenia increased by 17%. The top five countries from which the largest number of tourists arrived in the republic included: Russia - more than 525 thousand people, Georgia - 233 thousand guests, Iran - 132 thousand, USA - 46 thousand and Ukraine - 24 thousand people.
