ArmInfo. In the near future, new large air carriers will appear on the aviation market of Armenia. This intriguing statement was made at a meeting of the RA government on October 17 by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan, commenting on the appearance on October 16 of the European low-cost airline Ryanair on the republic's aviation market.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the low-cost airline will operate flights from January 28, 2020 from two airports in Armenia. From Zvartnots airport in Yerevan, flights will be operated by Berlin, Rome and Milan, and from Shirak airport in Gyumri to the German city of Memmingham near Munich. At the same time, the cost of the flight Rome-Yerevan-Rome in total will cost passengers about 70 euros (35.8 euros there and back). Thus, the airline will continue its accessibility policy in Armenia. True, passengers will be able to purchase food and carry extra freight for an additional fee, which, according to Avinyan, is quite logical. According to him, the entry of the largest European air carrier into the Armenian market will have a significant impact on the growth of the tourism sector.
In turn, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of this event. He recalled the heated discussions in the RA government on the development of the airline industry. According to the head of government, a significant role in the emergence of a new large airline on the Armenian market belongs to the Civil Aviation Committee, as well as Zvartnots Airport, which has established partnerships with a low- cost airline. The government of the country, continued Pashinyan, made a fundamental decision on the need to service areas that were "abandoned" over the past 12 years. In the near future, the prime minister emphasized, the so-called "air tax" will be lifted, and this decision will apply to all airlines without exception. "There is no doubt that the appearance of the largest European low-cost airline in the Armenian market will lead to positive changes in the republic's aviation market and will have a significant impact on the development of the country's economy, as it will increase the flow of tourists. This policy requires consistency and determination to bring things to a logical completion, without chasing sensational reports, "said the head of government.
