ArmInfo. In terms of the effectiveness of the fight against counterfeit products, Armenia is one of the most successful countries in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was announced on November 12 on the sidelines of the international forum "Anti- Counterfeiting-2019" to the Minister of Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Karine Minasyan.
According to her, more than 250 items of goods are marked in Armenia. As a result of tight control and the introduction of a new market assessment system, the share of counterfeit products in the country decreased by 30-40%. Moreover, continued Karine Minasyan, the largest volume of counterfeit products in the country falls on light industry.
The Minister recalled that the Eurasian Economic Commission discusses two of the most serious mechanisms - traceability and labeling of goods, and in this regard, it is important to create a single system that will allow businesses to penetrate each other's markets without additional obstacles. According to Karine Minasyan, electronic international trade in Armenia is growing very fast, and over three years, international parcels have grown 10 times, as a result of which the consumer is not protected from counterfeit products coming from global international markets. It often comes to the fact that the customer receives a particular product of a different quality. "It is important to create such a system so that relations at the EAEU level are built like platforms like Alibaba, Amazon, etc.," Karine Minasyan concluded. To note, the Chinese Alibaba Group Holdings Ltd. set a new sales record on the tenth anniversary of the sale on the occasion of the Lonely People Day (or Bachelor's Day), which is celebrated in China on November 11. However, the growth rate was the lowest in the history of this shopping festival. The volume of goods sold on Alibaba platforms on this day reached $ 30.8 billion, which is 21.7% higher than the figure recorded a year earlier, the company's blog said. In 2017, sales increased by 39%. The 2017 sales record ($ 17.8 billion) was broken a few hours before the end of the first day of the sale. In the first 85 seconds of the sale, goods worth $ 1 billion were sold at the company's sites, and by the end of the first hour - almost $ 10 billion, BBC reports. To recall, on November 12 - 13 the 7th international forum "Anti-Counterfeiting - 2019" is held in Yerevan, devoted to the problems of counteracting the illicit trafficking of industrial products, including the protection of intellectual property rights.
