ArmInfo. The head of the Armenian Ministry of Economy Tigran Khachatryan assures that Armenian citizens will not feel the additional financial burden after the increase in customs duties on goods imported from outside the EAEU,. "The total impact of a rise in the price of a number of goods on inflation due to Armenia's membership in the EAEU will not exceed 0.5%," he said during a government hour in parliament on November 13.
The head of the Ministry of Economy recalled that from January 1, 2020, preferential duties expire on the import of 699 items of goods, including wheat, meat, eggs, medicines, and cars. As a result, higher customs duties will come into force in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
According to him, next week data will be published on proportion these products have in the consumer basket, according to the officially established methodology. "The inflation rate next year will be within the limits laid down in the draft state budget for 2020, so that the citizens of Armenia will not feel the additional financial burdens," he concluded.
